Award Categories

The 2008 Investors Chronicle and Financial Times Wealth Management Awards are listed below. The first four awards listed are to be based almost entirely on the votes of users of wealth management services – with input from our expert judging panel – and the other four awards will be based purely on investment performance.

Awards voted for by users of wealth management services:

Best Private Banking Services

This award is for the wealth manager/private bank that offers excellent wealth management plus a normal banking service. We are looking for an excellent wealth manager who can also provide a comprehensive banking service too – including a current account.

Best Charity Wealth Manager

This award is for the wealth manager rated most highly for service and performance by the charity sector.

Best Investment Manager

This award is for the discretionary stockbroker/investment manager judged to offer the best wealth management services. This award focuses purely on overall investment management services and performance and is therefore open to pure discretionary fund managers who may not portray themselves as a private bank or wealth manager.

Best Wealth Manager

This award is for the wealth manager which offers excellent investment advice and wealth management services, plus a wide range of other services.

Investment performance based awards:

Best Wealth Manager – Cautious Fund

This award is for the fund/portfolio delivering the best returns while maintaining a low risk approach and with less than 50 per cent invested in equities.

Best Wealth Manager – Balanced Fund

This award is for the fund/portfolio delivering the best returns while maintaining a medium risk approach with typically between 50 and 75 per cent in equities. Absolute return solutions are likely to fall into this category.

Best Wealth Manager – Growth Fund

This award is for the fund/portfolio delivering the best returns while maintaining a high risk approach with typically more than 75 per cent in equities.

Best Wealth Manager – Income Fund

This award is for the best performing fund with a yield in excess of the FTSE All Share plus one per cent.
